The NOCCCD School of Continuing Education (SCE) offers continuing education courses in construction for individuals seeking to acquire new job skills, obtain specialized knowledge for professional development, or enhance career opportunities. Introductory courses are offered in the areas of electrical theory and application, electrical wiring and safety general contracting, and construction standards and procedures.

Advanced coursework is also available for those preparing for the electrical journeyman certification exam and for those seeking to enhance their skills and knowledge base related to public school construction inspection.

Employment Opportunities

Construction is one of the nation's largest industries, offering a great variety of career opportunities for individuals seeking training and career advancement. Job opportunities are expected to be excellent for experienced workers in the field, including individuals who want to own and run their own business.

Skilled craft workers may advance to supervisor or superintendent positions, or may transfer to jobs such as construction building inspector, purchasing agent, sales representative for building supply companies, contractor, or technical or vocational school instructor. In order to advance to a management position, additional education and training is recommended.
